
Mavericks Take Two Wins in Rapid City

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks fell short of sweeping the league-leading Rapid City Rush this weekend, but return home to Independence, Missouri with two hard-fought victories.
Erno Suomalainen made his Mavericks debut on Saturday night in Rapid City, stopping thirty-five of forty-one shots on goal.
Andrew Courtney opened the period with a goal in the first five minutes of play, but the Mavs were quickly overcome by two goals from the Rush to end the first period trailing 1-2. Evan Vossen kept his team alive in the second period, but the Mavericks still trailed the Rush 2-3 at the end of the second period.
Rapid City struck hard in the third, tearing into the scoreboard with three back-to-back goals to take a commanding lead over the Mavericks, who were able to muster a power-play goal by Mike Ramsay when the Mavs took the extra attacker to drive a powerful strike on the scoreboard. The Rush put in the final blow to the Mavs' empty net to take a 7-4 victory.
Sebastien Thinel continues his point streak with seven assists in the last 5 games for the Mavs, and Mike Ramsay has added to his goal-streak, taking five goals in the last four games.
The Missouri Mavericks return home for their New Year's Eve match-up with the Tulsa Oilers on December 31st.
