McCready Goal Brakes Tie with Cutthroats

Prescott Valley - The Denver Cutthroats faced the Arizona Sundogs for the second game in the three-game set on Saturday, December 28 in Prescott Valley, Arizona. The Sundogs took the 2013-14 season series lead after a 4-3 victory in overtime.

Matt Ambroz (J.P. Chabot, Lee Moffie) scored the opening goal of the night to give the Cutthroats a 1-0 lead over the Sundogs. In the second period, Arizona's Brandon Coccimiglio (Travis Ouellette, Matt McCready) tied the score 1-1. Kevin Baker (Ian Schultz, Bryan Cameron) gave the Sundogs a 2-1 lead with a long shot over Cutthroats netminder Kent Patterson's shoulder. Brandon Coccimiglio (Ouellette, Michael Trebish) scored Arizona's third consecutive goal to take a two-point lead over Denver. Less than a minute later, Denver's Daniel Barczuk (Ambroz, Troy Schwab) matched Arizona's goal to cut the deficit by one. Garett Bembridge (Steve Kaunisto, Schwab) scored the Cutthroats third goal of the night to tie the score 3-3.

After a scoreless third period, the game was sent into Denver's eighth overtime of the season. One minute into play, Arizona's Matt McCready (Coccimiglio, Paul McIlveen) scored the game-winning goal to give the Sundogs a 4-3 victory over the Denver Cutthroats. Following Saturday night's results, the Sundogs took the season series lead 3-2-0 over the Cutthroats.

The Arizona Sundogs will host the Denver Cutthroats for the third game of the set on Tuesday, December 31 at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Next, the Cutthroats will head to the mountains for the inaugural Colorado Tour at Lewis Ice Arena in Aspen, Colorado.
