Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans have signed playoff MVP Brian McMillin today in a host of moves by the club. The Americans will be looking for a split in their weekend matchup with the Tulsa Oilers tonight, when they visit Allen Event Center at 7:05 pm .
The Americans signed forward Brian McMillin to a contract today, bringing back last year's CHL Playoff MVP. To make room for McMillin's return, the Americans traded forward John Snowden to the St Charles Chill. Details of what Allen will get in return from the Chill, have not yet been released by the team.
"Brian will help our overall team defensively," said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson after announcing the signing and trade today. "Brian was one of our top defensive players last season and will help at both ends of the rink. "With the trade of John Snowden to St Charles, it gives him an excellent opportunity to play a bigger role offensively with the Chill." In a couple other moves today, the Americans placed defenseman Ross Rouleau, on the 7 day IR and activated defenseman Dallas Ehrhardt. The Americans also welcome forward Darryl Bootland back to the lineup tonight after serving his two game suspension.
The Americans and Oilers battle this evening for the tenth time already this season, with a 7:05 pm puck drop at Allen Event Center. The Oilers scored four unanswered goals on Thursday night, erasing a 2-0 third period Allen lead on their way to a 4-2 win at BOK Center. The two clubs battle tonight for third place overall in the Central Hockey League Standings. The Americans come into tonight's contest two points behind Tulsa, with four games in hand.
"Thursday night didn't sit well with us," said Allen Americans defenseman Daniel Tetrault, following the teams 2 goal loss to the Oilers. "We have to be better in our own end and we must finish the job."
The Americans rebounded last night with a 5-1 win at St Charles. Jamie Schaafsma had a three point night for Allen, scoring two goals and an assist, while Mark Guggenberger played fantastically in net. He stopped 29 of 30 shots, including three straight 5-on-3 St Charles power plays late in the third.
