Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks' goaltender Charlie Effinger was recalled by the Mavericks' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. Effinger is on a two-way contract with the Mavericks and Wolves, and this marks the first call-up of the season for the goaltender.

"We are very excited for Charlie to have this opportunity in the American Hockey League, and that is part of the reason he chose to return to Missouri for this season," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "Charlie had a very strong training camp in Chicago and then was named the goaltender of the Month for October in the CHL. He has earned this opportunity for himself."

Effinger, 26 (11/23/85), is 7-5-1 this season with the Mavericks with a 2.90 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.

"Charlie marks the third player this season that will have played for both the Mavericks and the Wolves joining J.P. Testwuide and Dustin Friesen, and that is very exciting news in our locker room," added Hillman. "We also feel very confident that we have two quality goaltenders in (Gerry) Festa and (Brian) Mahoney-Wilson that will allow us to enter the weekend prepared to compete and win hockey games."

The Mavericks will activate goaltender Gerry Festa who has been on the injured reserve and has missed the past five games due to injury.

The Mavs are back in action this Friday, December 16 as the Quad City Mallards visit Independence Events Center in the first part of a home-and-home weekend set between the Mavs and Mallards. The Mavs travel to Quad City on Saturday to wrap up the weekend. Tickets for all regular season games are on sale via Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or www.Ticketmaster.com .
