Kansas City Mavericks News Release
ALLEN, Texas - Andrew Courtney recorded a hat-trick and the Missouri Mavericks dominated Game 6 of the Central Hockey League (CHL) Semifinals, 6-2, over the Allen Americans Monday night at Allen Event Center. Mavericks' forward Kenton Miller added two goals and Colt King registered three assists for the Mavericks who forced Game 7 with their second straight victory. For the second straight season, the Mavericks will play in a Game 7 for the right to go to the CHL Finals. The winner of this series will face the Wichita Thunder for the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup. Game 7 is Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Allen Event Center.
The Mavericks controlled from the onset and Courtney started the scoring at the 3:07 mark. His shot on a rush through the defenseman's legs at the top of the circles was the first of three goals like that for the Mavericks. Miller made it 2-0 Missouri at the 6:40 mark on a goal that looked very similar to Courtney's. Miller then gave the Mavericks a three-goal lead at 12:34 on a backhand from the slot from a nice feed by Sebastien Thinel. The goal sent Americans' goaltender Aaron Dell to the bench in favor of Steve Silverthorn.
Allen got on the board and made it 3-1 on a power play goal by Anthony Maiani. The goal came with just 42 seconds to go in the first period, but Missouri answered with less than four seconds to go making it 4-1. Courtney buried his second of the game on a nice pass from King and the Mavericks took the three-goal lead into the intermission.
Courtney completed his hat-trick at the 14:01 mark of the second period giving Missouri a 5-1 lead. At 18:17, John-Scott Dickson made it 6-1 on his third goal of the post-season. It marked the final goal of the game for the Mavericks, and they allowed just one goal to the Americans in the final period.
Darryl Bootland scored the Americans' second goal on the power play at the 12:54 mark of the third period.
Missouri finished 0-for-4 on the power play while the Americans had two power play goals on three chances. Missouri scored six goals on a total of 15 shots.
