Matthew Papais Commits to Storm

GUELPH, ON - General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett announced Thursday that Matthew Papais has signed an Ontario Hockey League Standard Player Agreement with the Storm.
Papais, a five-foot-10, 164-pound forward from Nobleton, ON, was the Storm's seventh round pick (128th overall) in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.
"We are excited to welcome Matthew and his family to the Storm organization,", said Burnett. "After a really strong training camp, Matthew has had an outstanding start in Jr. A and will bring skill, speed and tenacity to our lineup in the coming seasons."
Papais is enjoying an outstanding Junior A season with the Brantford 99ers, leading all 2002 born players in the OJHL with 25 points in 24 games (11 goals, 14 assists). Last season playing with the Mississauga Reps in the GTHL, the 16 year old had 34 points in 33 games (15 gals, 19 assists). He also scored three points in five games at the OHL Cup (one goal, two assists).
"I'm extremely honoured to be signing with the Guelph Storm," said Papais. "I'd like to thank my parents, teammates, coaches and everyone who has helped me along the way. I'm excited to get started with such an excellent organization, and I can't wait to see what the future holds."
Papais will remain playing with his team in Brantford (OJHL) and will be eligible to play games with the Storm as a floating affiliate player for the remainder of the season.
