B.C. Lions News Release

Vancouver-The BC Lions Football Club is very pleased to announce that Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductee and former BC Lions quarterback great Matt Dunigan will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 Orange Helmet Awards presented by Coast Capital Savings on Friday, March 31 at the Westin Bayshore.

"Matt will be an amazing guest speaker," said Jamie Taras, the club's director of community relations. "One night will not be enough time for him to even scratch the surface of his incredible experiences over the past 30 years, but I know it will be one to remember and we're thrilled to have him join us."

The legendary CFL pivot who thrilled fans for almost 15 years as a player and continues to entertain millions each week as part of TSN's CFL studio panel will have no shortage of stories from both his playing days and experiences as a broadcaster.

"Vancouver has remained close to my heart since being a Lion in the 80's and I'm honoured to be a part of this year's Orange Helmet Awards," said the two-time Grey Cup champion. "Anytime I have an opportunity to give back to the game that has given me so much it's very special to me."

Now in its 14th year and having raised more than $800,000, the Orange Helmet Awards dinner is a marquee event on the BC Lions calendar. Proceeds from the night support amateur football in the province of British Columbia and honour champions at all levels from last season.

Created by Lions late president and CEO Bob Ackles, the awards also recognize pioneers of the sport in our province, outstanding coaches and those who have spent years in support of grassroots football development.

Tickets to the 2017 Orange Helmet Awards are available here or by calling 604.930.5937.

BC Lions 2017 season memberships start at just $250 all-in and are available now. Subscribe before April 1st and be entered to win a 2017 Nissan Murano.
