Moose Jaw, SK - Denton Mateychuk is on his way back to Moose Jaw.
The Moose Jaw Warriors' captain was reassigned to the Western Hockey League by the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets as they set their opening night roster on Monday.
Mateychuk appeared in four preseason games with the Blue Jackets, who selected him with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. He finished the preseason with three assists.
Last season, Mateychuk posted eight goals and a career-high 65 points in 63 games with the Warriors.
Matcheychuk enters this season sitting seventh all-time in Warriors' history for points by a defenceman with 140. Nathan Paetsch is the all-time leader with 212.
The Warriors return to home ice for three games this week, starting on Tuesday when the Calgary Hitmen come to the Hangar.
