JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Victor Mateo (3-2) picked up his third-straight win as the Biscuits improved their league-best record to 14-7 with a 4-0 win over the Jacksonville Suns (10-11) in the series-opener Thursday night at the Baseball Grounds.

Mateo went seven-scoreless innings while striking out nine for the win. The right-hander only walked one and allowed five hits without ever finding himself in a big jam. Mateo's nine strikeouts were the most since he struck out ten in a no-hitter with the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2011.

The Biscuits got on the board with a two-out, RBI-single from Curt Casali in the third inning. The single was the ten-straight plate appearance that Casali reached base safely. His streak would end with a strikeout in his next at-bat.

Taylor Motter drove in the Biscuits second run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Jake Hager and Motter both his solo home runs in the ninth inning to give the Biscuits a 4-0 lead. Both long-balls were the first of Hager and Motter's careers.

Andrew Bellatti (1) pitched the final two scoreless-innings to pick up his first save. He was able to work around a two-out double in the eighth to keep the Suns scoreless.

Game two of the series is Friday night at 6:05. RH Dylan Floro will look for back-to-back wins for the Biscuits while the Suns will send LH Andrew Heaney to the mound.
