HUNTSVILLE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears dropped their series finale to the Huntsville Stars 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at Joe Davis Stadium. Huntsville LHP Brent Suter had faced the minimum through eight innings when Raywilly Gomez broke up the south paw's no-hit bid to lead off the ninth with a base hit. Suter left the game after Gomez reach and would be charged with a run when Gomez later scored on a RBI groundout for the BayBears only run of the game.

RHP Bryan Woodall threw six shutout innings, allowing just three hits but the righty left the game still scoreless, settling for his third no decision in his last four starts. Woodall's record remains at (0-1) despite allowing less than two earned runs in all four of his stars in 2014.

The Stars broke the scoreless tie in the seventh inning posting four runs off of RHP Bradin Hagens who allowed the four runs on four hits while also walking two and exiting the game without recording an out.

With the Gomez single with no outs to begin the ninth, the BayBears avoided being held hitless in a game since former Blue Wahoos Daniel Corcino and Welkin De La Rose accomplished the feat with a combined no-hitter on June 16, 2012, just one day after Mobile clinched the First Half South Division title during their 2012 South League Championship season.

David Peralta was the only other BayBear to reach base in the game we he walked with two outs in the first inning but was picked-off by Suter who retired the next 21 he faced.

The BayBears will return home to Hank Aaron Stadium for a five game set with the Jackson Generals starting Thursday, April 24, at 7:05 PM. For tickets, call (251) 479-BEAR (2327) or visit the BayBears website at MobileBayBears.com.
