June 3, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sacramento Republic FC News Release

Sacramento Republic FC (4-3-2, 14 pts) return to USL action when they take on LA Galaxy II (5-2-5, 20 pts) on Saturday, June 4. Kickoff is 8:00 p.m. PDT at Bonney Field. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The match is presented by The California Endowment. Tickets to the match may be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.

This will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season. Republic FC won the first matchup, earning a 2-0 road win on May 7 and handing Los Dos their first loss of the season. Defender Emrah Klimenta and forward Harry Williams both scored their first goal of the season in the victory.

Republic FC enter the match on a three-match USL undefeated streak, with wins over LA Galaxy II and Seattle Sounders FC 2 and a draw against Swope Park Rangers. Republic FC also went undefeated in the month of May, including 2-0-1 in USL play. Republic FC also saw an increase in USL goal production in May, averaging 1.67 goals per match, while continuing a trend of stellar defense, allowing just 0.33.

Forward Cameron Iwasa joined midfielder Tommy Thompson for the club lead in USL goals when he scored his second goal of the season against Swope Park Rangers on May 28. Iwasa has now doubled his goal scoring output from the 2015 USL season, where he saw action in 564 minutes last season. He has already seen more minutes this season, tallying 583 minutes of play to-date this season.

Republic FC's defense has been particularly strong so far this USL season, allowing just 0.44 goals per USL game this season. As of May 31, Republic FC had the best defense of any professional team in the United States and Canada. In MLS, league leaders the Colorado Rapids have allowed 0.71 goals per match, while the NASL leaders, FC Edmonton and the New York Cosmos average 0.67 goals against per match, meaning Republic FC's defense has allowed 0.2 goals less than the next closest professional team.

Los Dos head into the match after a 4-1 win over Arizona United SC on May 28. Galaxy II started the season quickly, going undefeated in their first eight matches before falling to Republic FC on May 7. Since their undefeated streak, Los Dos have gone 1-2-1.

The Los Dos offense has been their strong point so far this season, averaging 2.08 goals per match, second-best in the Western Conference behind just Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 who average 2.2 goals per match. Galaxy II has been held scoreless just once this season, against Republic FC on May 7.

Forward Jack McBean has been a large part of the Los Dos offense scoring 11 goals and recording two assists in 11 appearances this season. McBean's 11 goals is first in the USL, with the second place scorer, Oklahoma City Energy FC's Kyle Greig trailing with nine goals this season.
