What's the latest on the team?
Republic FC (2-3-1, 7 points) were handed a 3-1 loss at Heart Health Park on Saturday night at the hands of Orange County SC.
Tucker Bone bagged his third goal this season which is currently the most by a player on the team.
The fixture saw a trio of former SRFC Academy products log minutes during the regular season match.
For the second time this season, defender Hayden Sargis saw his name in the starting eleven and finished the night with the most passes (77) and touches (89) on the team against OCSC.
Fellow former academy player and defender Nabi Kibunguchy played the entirety of second half and made a stunning defensive play late in the game.
Midfielder Rafael Jauregui also made his first appearance this season when the former SRFC Academy star came on and logged 22 valuable first team minutes.
What about the hosts?
It hasn't been an ideal start for Real Monarchs to kick off the 2021 USL Championship season.
Following its first five fixtures, Monarchs is still in search of its first win this season.
The 2019 USL Championship title-winners opened the campaign with a wild 2-2 draw against San Antonio FC in Texas that saw both teams have a player sent off.
Less than one week later, Monarchs welcomed LA Galaxy II to Utah and Los Dos left with all three points in the Pacific Division standings following a 2-0 win. The Salt Lake City club bounced back in its next match with a 1-1 result at home against Austin Bold to earn a point before being dealt a 2-0 loss at the hands of Austin in the Lone Star State on May 26.
Most recently, Real Monarchs lost 1-0 at home against New Mexico United - the second straight game the Utah club has been shutout.
Head-to-Head
It's been quite some time since the last time these two clubs clashed during competitive play.
In 2019, Republic FC paid a visit to Real Monarchs in the last game of the regular season - only to be dealt a 3-0 loss prior to the Indomitable Club's postseason push.
However, both SRFC and Monarchs met during the 2021 preseason with Sacramento securing a 2-0 win at home. Cameron Iwasa bagged a brace with a goal in each half to secure the win in front of 2,300 fans.
Overall (USL regular and postseason): 3-6-5
Home: 1-2-4 (GF: 6, GA: 8)
Away: 2-4-1 (GF: 7, GA: 11)
