Charlotte Independence News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Independence unveiled today their Military Appreciation Night kit inspired by the team's history and the new American Legion Memorial Stadium. The jerseys will be autographed by the Independence players and auctioned off to the public. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Folds of Honor as part of the club's "Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Impact" campaign. The strategic philanthropic partnership recognizes and honors local veterans while also raising funds for kids educational scholarships.
The 2021 Military Appreciation Night jersey auction is LIVE today. Click here to place your bid. The auction ends on Sunday, July 18 at midnight.
"Our mission is to make Charlotte a better place to live through sports. This effort is consistent with that and our COMMUNITY core value," stated Independence President & COO Tim Schuldt. "Folds of Honor was chosen for their quality reputation, because all of these funds will stay local, and because they share the values of our organization."
The marquee fundraising event will be during Military Appreciation Night presented by Famous Toastery on Saturday, July 17 at 7:00 PM ET. All donations will go towards helping the children, and families, of fallen or disabled military personnel from the Charlotte Region.
Throughout the season the team plans to recognize a series of nominated veterans during halftime of each home match. The chosen nominee, and their friends or family, will sit in four "Folds of Honor V.I.V." seats. The local "Very Important Veteran" and three guests will be able to enjoy a little R&R and take in the city skyline views. "We're thrilled to partner with the Charlotte Independence," said Ben Leslie, Executive Vice President for Development for Folds of Honor. "The history of their name and their new home field complement our objectives. We look forward to working with the Independence to select local applicants in need, so they can realize their educational dreams."
The campaign will also include a special lineup of souvenir merchandise, donation canisters, and round-up opportunities to get fans involved and raise additional scholarship funds throughout the entire season. Famous Toastery, one of the team's key community partners, will also feature menu items, with an Independence and Folds of Honor theme, and will donate a portion of sales to the leading, nationally recognized foundation.
