Republic FC - The Latest

Republic FC put in a complete performance in the Rockies last Saturday, claiming three points over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and tallying a second consecutive clean sheet victory. Trevor Amann added to his club-leading scoring, netting his fourth goal of the season, while last year's leading scorer, Russell Cicerone opened his 2024 account with an assist and goal apiece. Cicerone was named to the Team of the Week alongside defender Lee Desmond, while also adding a nomination for Goal of the Week. Danny Vitiello earned a second consecutive nomination for Save of the Week for a stellar effort that kept the club's shutout intact in stoppage time.

With the result in Colorado Springs, Republic FC now leads USL Championship with three clean sheets, and is the best with the ball at their feet with 82% passing accuracy through five games. The club has yet to trail this season and is one of just five undefeated teams remaining league-wide.

Know Your Opponent

FC Tulsa has only played three games so far this season, but has looked dangerous offensively, scoring six goals. In its most recent outing, the club played to an eventful 3-3 draw with Phoenix Rising FC where they scored just 52 seconds after play began, and added two goals within ten minutes of each other after the break. In its first contest this season, Tulsa was also active early, scoring twice before halftime in a 3-1 win at Las Vegas. The club's one defeat on the year - to Orange County on the road - came by a 1-0 score line despite dominating on the stat sheet with 15 shots with six on target and 53% of the possession balance.

Forward Stefan Stojanovic and former New Mexico United stalwart Justin Portillo have led the Oklahoma side thus far in 2024. Stojanovic has two scores in his club's three games and has been active in the attacking third with 11 total shots. Portillo has continued to be one of the league's top facilitators, tallying ten chances created. Last week, he recorded two assists in the club's draw with Phoenix.

Match Notes

Since the start of 2023, no club in USL Championship has been as good at home as Republic FC. The Indomitable Club has claimed 14 victories at Heart Health Park in that span, outscoring opponents by 24 goals while posting 11 clean sheets.

Republic FC has never been defeated by FC Tulsa in 12 all-time contests. In fact, the Oklahoma side is the only team in the league Sacramento has played at least five all-time contests against and never lost to. Republic FC has outscored Tulsa 33-12 - a +21 differential - in head to head matchups. At Heart Health Park, Sacramento has allowed only six goals in six contest while pouring in 16 home goals.
