Oakland Roots head into their second match of the season fresh off of naming Jordan Ferrell the full-time Head Coach for the duration of the 2021 Season. Following the inaugural USL game disappointment Roots had two weeks off between games as they prepared for LA Galaxy II on Sunday.
About LA Galaxy II:
Galaxy II is coming into the game after a busy opening three weeks that saw the MLS reserve side play five games. In that same span, Roots have played one. Most recently, Galaxy II drew 1-1 against Sporting KC II on Wednesday night. This brought Galaxy to the top of the Pacific Division standings on eight points from five games.
The young side has been finding the net often early in the 2021 season. Three Galaxy II players have scored twice each; Jorge Hernandez, Preston Judge and Kai Koreniuk, while Goalkeeper Justin Vin Steeg is also tied atop the league with two clean sheets.
