Match Preview: Legion FC at Indy Eleven
June 25, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Birmingham Legion FC News Release
Legion FC hits the road again in USL Championship play for a two-game trip starting against Indy Eleven on Wednesday at 6:00PM CT. After a tough run of games, BHM picked up a point over the weekend, but are still looking for another couple league wins to catch back up to the playoff line.
According to Head Coach Tom Soehn, Indy are "very athletic up top, and are a team that likes to be on the ball, to knock it around, and they're patient in the way they build up. We have to be disciplined and organized but ready to attack quickly when we get the opportunities."
Indy Eleven are arguably the hottest team in the league, having recently won four in a row, and have not lost a game since April 28. The hosts also have not lost in the friendly confines of Lucas Oil Stadium in nearly a year, a streak of 15 games dating back to July 7, 2018.
The Eleven are led in the attack by the all-time leading goal scorer in USL Championship history, Dane Kelly, who has four goals on the season and 72 in his career, and Tyler Pasher who leads the team with five goals this year. Pasher made last week's USL Championship Team of the Week for his 84' minute winner in the team's 1-0 win over Atlanta United II.
For Legion FC, #4 Marcel Appiah did not make the trip due to concerns over playing on turf two matches in a row with his strained calf, and #13 Tyler Savitsky (sports hernia) and #33 Kyle Culbertson (hamstring) also remain out, per the UAB Medicine injury report. #11 JJ Williams has been recalled to MLS by the Columbus Crew, and #21 Zach Herivaux has joined the Haitian National Team on an international call-up for this summer's Gold Cup.
