LOS ANGELES - With eight games remaining in the 2023 MLS Regular Season, the LA Galaxy next travel to face LAFC at BMO Stadium tonight, Saturday, Sept. 16 (7:30 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass on Apple TV; LA Galaxy Radio, LA Galaxy Spanish Radio).
Saturday's match between the LA Galaxy and LAFC marks the 21st edition across all competitions of El Tráfico, with the Galaxy leading the all-time series 9-6-5. In three meetings across all competitions during the 2023 campaign, the Galaxy hold a 2-1-0 record against LAFC. In the last meeting between the two clubs, the Galaxy earned a 2-1 win over LAFC before a new MLS single-match standalone attendance record of 82,110 fans at Rose Bowl Stadium on July 4. In the last meeting at BMO Stadium, the Galaxy defeated LAFC 2-0 in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on May 23. The Galaxy have earned a result in two of their last four meetings played against LAFC across all competitions (1-2-1; 9 GF, 9 GA) at BMO Stadium, dating back to Aug. 28, 2021. In seven games played since tallying a goal and an assist against LAFC on July 4, Riqui Puig ranks third in the league with eight goal contributions (5 goals, 3 assists) behind only Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Ryan Gauld (6 goals, 4 assists) and FC Cincinnati midfielder Luciano Acosta (4 goals, 5 assists).
Following the 2-2 draw against St. Louis CITY SC on Sept. 10, the LA Galaxy extended their unbeaten run to four matches (2-0-2; 8 GF, 4 GA) and improved to 5-1-6 (23 GF, 17 GA) in their last 12 regular season matches played dating back to May 31.
