Atlanta United 2 edged Toronto FC II 5-4 on Wednesday, May 16 at Coolray Field to snap a four-match losing streak and grab its second win of the season. Mikey Ambrose scored a pair of free kicks, Jon Gallagher netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season and Brandon Vazquez and Romario Williams each scored their debut goals with ATL UTD 2. Atlanta will head to Louisville in pursuit of its first road win of the season as it begins a stretch of four consecutive matches away from home.
In USL play, Louisville City FC is coming off a 2-0 loss against Nashville SC in front of 8,610 fans at First Tennessee Park Sunday, May 13. Lebo Moloto scored both goals for the expansion side as Louisville City's away record dropped to 1-2-1. While the defending USL champions have struggled on the road, Louisville is a perfect 4-0-0 at home and has allowed just two goals at Louisville Slugger Field. Louisville City also played a mid-week match in the second round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Wednesday night and defeated Long Island Rough Riders 5-0 with Kyle Smith, Ilija Ilic, Luke Spencer, Brian Ownby and Cameron Lancaster each scoring a goal.
Saturday's match marks the second meeting between ATL UTD 2 and Louisville City as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw at Coolray Field Saturday, April 21. Cameron Lancaster scored for Louisville in the 66th minute, but Andrew Carleton, in his ATL UTD 2 debut, converted a 90th minute penalty kick to equalize for first professional goal.
