San Jose Earthquakes News Release
Kickoff
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Stanford Stadium. The match marks the third and final matchup between the Earthquakes and Galaxy this season.
Broadcast Information
The game will be aired live on Univision, 1590 KLIV (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
Missing Key Stars
Both squads will be missing key players in Saturday's matchup due to the United States Men's National Team continuing on in the Copa America Centenario. The Earthquakes will be without leading scorer Chris Wondolowski for the fourth straight match. The Galaxy will be missing forward Gyasi Zardes, who scored twice against the Earthquakes in their first matchup of the season. He is currently tied for third on the team in goals (4) and second on the team in assists (4).
Familiar Turf
Earthquakes forward Adam Jahn is no stranger to Stanford Stadium. Jahn was a standout player for the Cardinal from 2009-2012, playing all four years and racking up 24 goals over 73 appearances. Jahn has played in two games with the Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium since joining the MLS, and could make his third appearance on Saturday night.
Big Crowds, Bigger Performances
The past California Clasico matches at Stanford Stadium have drawn over 50,000 fans, including a club record 50,422 in 2015. With nearly 50,000 tickets already sold for this Saturday, the stadium will likely be packed for the next edition of the MLS' biggest rivalry, which hasn't failed to disappoint. Last season's matchup at Stanford ended in dramatic fashion, with the Earthquakes coming back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat their Southern California rivals 3-1. There's no telling what's in store for this year's California Clasico at The Farm.
Leading the Pack
Dominic Kinnear has had arguably the most coaching success against the Galaxy in his career, amassing an MLS-leading 14 wins. He has led the Quakes to an impressive 6-5-2 record against their rivals in his four seasons with the club. In their third and final matchup of the season, Kinnear is seeking his first win against the club in 2016 (0-1-1). He has not gone winless against the Galaxy in a season since 2010, when he was coaching for the Houston Dynamo, and only twice ever in his career.
Hometown Glory
The Earthquakes are currently riding a 13-game undefeated streak on home turf, including a 6-0-2 record so far this season. The Quakes are also undefeated in their last three matches at home against the Galaxy, with their last loss coming at Stanford Stadium on June 28, 2014. This is their first matchup at home this season.
