Match Day: Fresno FC at San Antonio FC

May 5, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Fresno FC News Release

Fresno FC will take on San Antonio FC for the second time in just three weeks, this time traveling to the Lone Star State for a Cinco de Mayo clash at Toyota Field. The last time out, the two clubs played to a scoreless draw at Chukchansi Park, in what was the first match this season that the Foxes had been held without a goal.

The two clubs are separated by only two points, with SAFC fresh off a 3-1 win at Las Vegas Lights FC. It was the first win in five games for SAFC, and first goals in three (back-to-back scoreless draws) who saw goals from Ever Guzman, Jose Escalante, and Rafa Castillo on a penalty. All three scored their first goals of the season, and Escalante also helped create the third, working his skill to draw the penalty kick.

The Foxes are seeking three points after drawing their previous four matches, including a 1-1 result at Phoenix Rising FC a week ago. The Foxes were ahead against a 10-man PHX side, before giving up the equalizer in the 89th minute, which was the second time in three games Fresno has conceded a game-tying goal in the final minutes.
