Marty Brown Named Manager of the Hiroshima Carp

Marty Brown, the Buffalo Bisons manager for the past three seasons, has been named the new manager of the Hiroshima Carp of the Japanese Central League. He returns to skipper the team he played for from 1992-1994.
The Cleveland Indians will announce a new manager for the Bisons in the coming weeks.
Brown finished his career with the Bisons with a 238-193 mark, recording a winning season in each of his three years with the team. His .552 winning percentage is 11th All-Time and his 238 wins are tied for 10th All-Time for a Bisons manager. In the Bisons Modern Era (1985-present), only Brian Graham (253) and Terry Collins (246) posted more victories as the Herd's skipper.
Brown took over as the Bisons manager prior to the 2003 season. In that first year, Brown led the team to a 73-70 record, finishing third in the International League North after challenging for the division for most of the season. In 2004, Brown led the Herd to the best mark in the league (83-61) and a Governors' Cup Championship despite seeing 42 pitchers and 67 total players appear for the team during the season. For his efforts, Brown was named the International League Manager of the Year.
In 2005, Brown's Bisons went 82-62, winning a second consecutive IL North Division title with the second best record in league. The Herd lost to the Indianapolis Indians, three-games-to-two, in the International League Semi-Finals. Brown also managed the IL's team in the 18th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game in Sacramento, California.
