MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears and Arizona Diamondbacks announced a series of transactions on Saturday, July 5, 2014. LHP Patrick Schuster and outfielder Dustin Martin have been promoted from Class AA Mobile to Class AAA Reno. In a corresponding move, LHP Cody Wheeler has been promoted from Class A-Advanced Visalia to Class AA Mobile and outfielder Zach Borenstein as been assigned to AA Mobile after being acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels.

Schuster joins Triple-A Reno after appearing in 36 games for the BayBears, compiling a 3-2 mark with a 2.03 ERA and holding opposing batters to a .141 batting average.

Martin makes the jump from Double-A Mobile to Triple-A Reno after batting .301 with 7 home runs and 28 RBI in 47 games with the BayBears.

Wheeler joins the BayBears from the Diamondbacks High-A affiliate in Visalia. In 25 games with the Rawhide this season the left-handed reliever is 3-4 with a 2.35 ERA in 25 appearances.

Borenstein joins Mobile, after the Angels acquired left-handed reliever Joe Thatcher and outfielder Tony Campana from the D-backs in exchange for both he and a right-hander Joey Krehbiel.

Borenstein, who turns 24 later this month, was ranked as the Angels' ninth-best prospect by MLB.com. He was invited to big league Spring Training and has been at Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Salt Lake this year.

Named the Angels' 2013 Minor League Player of the Year, Borenstein also garnered the California League's Most Valuable Player Award last year after hitting .337 with 28 homers and 95 RBIs for Class A Inland Empire.
