
Morbans' Tenth Inning Homer Drops Stars

Huntsville, AL - The Jackson Generals won a back and forth game with the Huntsville Stars Saturday night at Joe Davis Stadium. There were four ties and five lead changes. Jackson eventually won the game 7-6 in ten innings over the Stars in Huntsville to even the five game series at 1-1.
Julio Morban hit the Generals second homerun of the day in the top of the tenth inning against Stars reliever Kevin Shackelford(1-2) breaking a 6-6 tie and giving the Generals a 7-6 lead. Shackelford ended up taking the loss out of the Stars bullpen.
The Stars had runners on the corners with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Richard Vargas struck out Josh Prince to end the game. Vargas earned his fifth save of the season.
Jackson took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Patrick Kivlehan grounded out to second base scoring Leon Landry.
The Stars came back in the bottom of the first tying the game at 1-1 when Robinson Diaz singled past the shortstop and into centerfield scoring Kentrail Davis.
The Stars took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the second. Davis stroked a two-out two-run double to left field giving the Stars a 3-1 advantage.
Dario Pizzano tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fourth on at two-run triple against Huntsville starter Jed Bradley.
Bradley took a no decision after pitching 6.2 innings allowing eight hits on four runs.
D.J. Peterson gave the Generals the lead again on his solo homerun that just cleared the wall in left center. It was Peterson's first Double-A homerun.
The Stars tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth on a Nick Ramirez rbi single to right field scoring Josh Prince.
The Stars recaptured the lead in the bottom of the seventh Moises Hernandez. Diaz broke the 4-4 tie on an rbi single scoring Nick Shaw to make it 5-4. Erik Komatsu then followed with a groundout back to the pitcher which scored Davis putting the Stars ahead 6-4.
In the top of the eighth, Tim Dillard hit Kivlehan to start the inning. Morban then singled to right field. Davis the right fielder misplayed the ball allowing Kivlehan to score from first base cutting it to a one run game.
Dillard struck out the next two batters before David Goforth entered the game.
With two outs, and Morban at third base, Pizzano hit a double to right center scoring Morban tying the game at 6-6.
Kyle Hunter improved to 2-3 as he earned the win out of the Generals bullpen after tossing 1.1 scoreless innings.
The Stars(8-9, 54-33) and Generals(5-12,36-50)are tied 1-1 in their five game series. Game three of the series will be Sunday at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville. The Stars will have RHP Drew Gagnon(5-3, 3.14) on the mound. Jackson will send RHP Victor Sanchez(3-4, 4.30) to the hill.
