
Hagens and BayBears Hand Pensacola 6-4 Loss

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears dropped the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 6-4 Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The BayBears (55-33) improved to a season-high 20 games above .500 behind RHP Bradin Hagens (7-3) who held the Blue Wahoos (37-50) off the bored for the first six innings. The win is Mobile's fifth in seven contest against Pensacola this season. The BayBears have now won eight of their last 10 games.
Mobile took a 1-0 in the first inning when Season Jamieson tripled in the BayBears first at-bat of the game and then scored from third just two batters later on a wild pitch from Blue Wahoos RHP Jon Moscot (4-8).
The BayBears added one run in the second inning to take a two-run lead and Mobile scored four more runs in the third to take a 6-0 advantage. Tom Belza began the frame with a lead-off double and advanced to third on a fly ball off the bat of Jake Lamb that was hit to center and dropped by Blue Wahoos' centerfielder Juan Duran. With Belza at third and Lamb on second Todd Glaesmann drove home a run with a RBI single. After Zach Borenstein drove home another run with a sac fly, Mark Thomas capped the BayBears scoring with a two-run home run to left.
Hagens held Pensacola hitless through the first five innings before allowing back-to-back singles in the sixth inning. Pensacola finally got to the BayBears righty in the seventh inning when Travis Mattair hit a two-run homer to center and the Blue Wahoos struck again with two more runs in the eighth inning. Hagens allowed four runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out four in 7.1 innings on the mound.
RHP Seth Simmons earned his first Double-A save after recording the final five outs when he came on in relief of Hagens in the eighth. Moscot earned the loss, pitching all eight innings for the Blue Wahoos. The righty allowed six runs, only four of them earned on eight hits, walking one and striking out three while throwing 103 pitches.
Mobile and Pensacola continue their five game series with game three Sunday scheduled for 5:05 PM. They BayBears will send RHP Archie Bradley (0-0,1.23) to the mound while RHP Timothy Adleman (2-3, 3.48) will take the hill for the Blue Wahoos.
Fans are reminded the Sunday is "Bark-in-the-Park" night at Hank Aaron stadium and all fans are welcomed to bring their dogs and sit anywhere in the park with no extra charge for their pet. The only requirement is that all dogs be leashed.
