Martell Returns to Wichita

Wichita, KS (Oct. 7th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced this afternoon that defenseman Brandon Martell has been released from his PTO with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) and will return to the training camp roster.

Martell, 26, enters his third full season as a pro and first in Wichita. A native of Andover, Minnesota, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound defenseman played in 17 games for the Rapid City Rush before being traded to the Evansville IceMen in December. After playing a four-year career at the Ohio State University (NCAA DI), Martell played three games in 2012-13 with the Kalamazoo Wings.

The Thunder will play their exhibition game at the Wichita Ice Center against the Allen Americans. The game will take place on Saturday, October 10th, at 4:00 p.m. Immediately after, the Wichita Junior Thunder will take on the Colorado Junior Eagles. Tickets are on sale now for $12 and are only available at the Thunder office. Admission will allow fans to see both games.
