Wichita, KS (Sept. 25th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced on Friday that defenseman Brandon Martell has been invited to participate in training camp with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. In a separate transaction, the team announced that they have sent the rights for Ryan Rashid to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for future considerations.

Martell, 26, enters his third full season as a pro and first in Wichita. A native of Andover, Minnesota, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound defenseman played in 17 games for the Rapid City Rush before being traded to the Evansville IceMen in December. After playing a four-year career at the Ohio State University (NCAA DI), Martell played three games in 2012-13 with the Kalamazoo Wings. Camp for Lake Erie will kick off in Cleveland this coming Monday. This will be his second AHL camp as he attended one last fall with the Hartford Wolfpack.

Wichita acquired the rights to Rashid from the Elmira Jackals. The Thunder are closing in on finalizing their training camp roster and dates, which is expected to be announced next week.
