Marlins Pair with Boys and Girls Club

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins announced today that they are partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina for a Meet and Greet luncheon with Marlins players and coaches on Tuesday, July 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sunshine Lady Club.

The luncheon provides an opportunity for local children and the Marlins organization to interact and talk about baseball, leadership and teamwork.

"The Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina is a great organization and we are proud to partner with them for this luncheon," Marlins General Manager Chris Marmo said. "We love seeing kids out at the ballpark, so we look forward to interacting with them off the field."

The luncheon is open to the public as BBQ plate lunches can be purchased for $10. Tickets can be paid for at the Boys and Girls Club of Morehead City on 3321 Bridges Street or at the Boys and Girls Club of Beaufort on 601 Mulberry Street. All proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina.

The Morehead City Marlins are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 52 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
