Toronto, Ontario - The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-1 at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. Keith Aucoin scored two goals and added an assist while Nazem Kadri had four assists.
The Marlies opened the scoring at 4:15 of the opening frame on a powerplay goal by Leo Komarov. Jake Gardiner wired a shot from the point which was tipped in the slot by Komarov just over the line past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer. Toronto made it 2-0 on a goal by Mark Fraser at 12:50 of the first period. Ryan Hamilton picked up the puck in the right corner and threw it in front to Fraser who tipped the puck up and over the left shoulder of Mayer.
The Marlies added another goal just 13 seconds later from Nicolas Deschamps. The puck was given away from the right corner to Deschamps at the right circle who shot the puck into the empty net. Toronto added another powerplay marker by Keith Aucoin at 19:32 of the opening frame. Nazem Kadri slid the puck to Aucoin in the left corner who passed it to the slot which was redirected behind Mayer.
The Marlies scored their fifth goal at 14:51 of the second stanza on Aucoin's second goal of the game. Komarov passed the puck from the left boards to Kadri behind the net. Kadri feathered the pass to Aucoin in the slot who buried it under Mayer.
The Bulldogs got on the board at 2:08 of the third period on a shorthanded goal by Aaron Palushaj who wired a wrister from the left circle past Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Ben Scrivens.
Mike Kostka scored the sixth goal for the Marlies on the powerplay at 4:03 of the final frame. Toronto finished with 25 shots on goal while Hamilton finished with 17.
The Bulldogs' next game is Tuesday, November 20th at 6:00 p.m. in St. John's vs. the IceCaps.
