WORCESTER, Mass - Brodie Reid registered the lone goal in his season debut for the Worcester Sharks (7-6-1-1) in a 2-1 loss against the Connecticut Whale (6-7-1-0) on Saturday night in front of 5,098 fans at the DCU Center.

Cameron Talbot picked up the win in net for the Whale, stopping 23 of 24 shots that he faced. Brodie Reid, Freddie Hamilton, and Taylor Doherty each had one point for Worcester in the loss, while Chris Kreider and Ryan Bourque notched the goals for the Whale, as Worcester fell to 4-3-1-0 on home ice at the DCU Center. Alex Stalock played solid in net for Worcester, allowing two goals on 23 shots.

After a back-and-forth start to the game, the Sharks were able to tally the first goal late in the first period. Playing in his first game of the season, Brodie Reid (1st) beat Whale goalie Cameron Talbot five-hole after a series of nice moves, giving the Sharks a 1-0 advantage.

There were a lot of scoring chances in the second period, but none of them found the back of the cage. The Whale came inches from tying the game late in the period, ringing the post twice on the same shift. Each team went 0-for-1 on the power play and Connecticut outshot Worcester 9-7 in the period.

After a bench minor to the Sharks for too many men, the Whale cashed in when Chris Kreider (2nd) buried a rebound off the pad of Alex Stalock, tying the game 1-1. Less than two minutes later, Ryan Bourque (3rd) was the beneficiary of a bad bounce for Worcester, sneaking a shot to the back of the net, giving Connecticut the lead. The Sharks also came inches from tying the game late in the third when Danny Groulx and Sebastian Stalberg both hit the post during a four minute power play for the Sharks. Connecticut was able to hang on late in the final minutes to grab the two points.

The Sharks overall record falls to 7-6-1-1 (16pts in 15gp) and 4-3-1-0 (9pts in 8gp) at the DCU Center this season.
