B-Sens Sweep Weekend with 3-2 Win over Amerks

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -The Binghamton Senators earned their second win in as many days with a 3-2 victory over the Rochester Americans. It's the third-straight home win and the fourth-straight unbeaten game in regulation. Rochester led the way in shots 51-36.

The first goal came for the Amerks as center Kyle Porter flipped the puck past Robin Lehner at the 11:58 mark of the first period. Porter's fifth of the season came from a feed by left winger Marcus Foligno, with center Frederick Roy also earning an assist.

The B-Sens came back with two unanswered goals in the second period. The first came at the 1:09 mark after defender Fredrik Claesson fired a shot redirected by center Derek Grant to tie the game, 1-1. Grant's goal was his third goal in as many games, and Claesson earned his third assist also in as many games. The next tally wouldn't come until the 17:17 mark in the second, when left winger Shane Prince scored his first career American Hockey League goal and put the B-Sens ahead, 2-1. Defenseman Tyler Eckford and center Pat Cannone were awarded the assists.

The Amerks would answer right back not even two minutes later with an Evan Rankin power play goal at the 18:44 mark, evening the score, 2-2. Defenseman Brayden McNabb and right winger Brian Flynn earned the assists.

In the third period, Grant would come up big once again, scoring a shorthanded goal at the 4:38 mark after taking the puck up the right wing from the B-Sens defensive zone to give Binghamton the edge, 3-2. The shorthanded goal is Grant's second of the season, which leads all B-Sens players. In addition, Binghamton now leads the AHL in shorthanded goals with six.

Lehner earned his sixth win of the season, allowing two goals on 51 attempts. David Leggio halted 33 of the 36 shots he faced.

The B-Sens return to the ice Thursday, November 22 against the Toronto Marlies at 6:05 p.m. for the traditional Thanksgiving Day game. Tickets are $19 for side and $18 for end seats.
