
Marlies Sign Defenceman Andy Rogers to PTO Contract

Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed defenceman Andy Rogers to a professional try-out contract.
Rogers, 23, a native of Calgary, Alberta played in two playoff games with the Marlies during the 2008-09 season after being acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lighting. In 34 games last season with the Norfolk Admirals, the 6'5, 225-pound defenceman registered two assists and 38 penalty minutes. Rogers was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first-round, 30th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The Marlies open the 2009-10 regular season this afternoon against their division-rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs at 4 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum.
