Marlies Sign Dale Mitchell to ATO

Mike Penny, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed forward Dale Mitchell to an amateur try-out contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Mitchell, 19, spent the past three seasons playing for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League, registering 183 points (87 goals, 96 assists) and 223 penalty minutes in 195 regular season games. During the 2007-08 season, the Mississauga, Ontario native posted 24 goals and 36 assists for 60 points in 63 contests for the Generals. In 15 games during the 2008 playoffs for Oshawa, he tallied 10 goals and six assists with 23 penalty minutes.

The 5'9, 204-pound right winger was selected in the third round, 74th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The Marlies play Game 1 of their North Division Final, best-of-seven series against the Syracuse Crunch - AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets - on Friday night at Ricoh Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. Game 2 is slated for Sunday, May 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum.
