Pens to face Phantoms

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will face the Philadelphia Phantoms in the East Division Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs, it was determined on Tuesday night. Philadelphia defeated the Albany River Rats, 2-0, in Game Seven of their East Division Semifinals series to advance.

The Penguins advanced to the East Division Finals for the fifth consecutive season after defeating the Hershey Bears, four games to one, in the East Division Semifinals.

This will be the fourth playoff meeting between Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Penguins defeated the Phantoms in the 2001 Western Conference Semifinals, 4-2, and in the 2004 East Division Finals, 4-2. Philadelphia downed Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the 2005 East Division Finals, 4-1.

SEMI-FINALS NOTES: Tim Brent set a new team record for points in a playoff series with 11 (5+6) in the five games against the Bears...Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Hershey have now met four times in postseason play, with each team posting two series victories and nine wins apiece...The 22 goals the Penguins scored in the series is the second-highest the team has ever recorded. The Penguins posted 23 goals in a seven-game series against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2004...The 10 goals the Penguins allowed are the fewest they have surrendered in a five-game series.
