SAN ANTONIO - The Phoenix Coyotes' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage dropped a 2-1 decision to the Toronto Marlies in Game 5 of the North Division semifinals in front of 7,022 fans at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage started the scoring with the puck tumbling about in a frenzied pack. Jon DiSalvatore came away with the biscuit and capped off the relentless Rampage offensive with his second goal of the series. Chad Kolarik and Logan Stephenson each picked up their first assist of the series on the marker, tallied with 1:52 left in the first period.

Toronto responded with two goals in the second period, which had been controlled for the most part by the Rampage until Friday.

Andy Wozniewski potted his first goal of the playoffs with a shot from the slot at 3:35 of the middle stanza. John Mitchell picked up an assist on the marker.

Mitchell made it a two-point night with the eventual game-winner. He gathered his own rebound and managed to get just enough of it to allow the puck to walk across the goal-line for the 2-1 lead at 8:50. Mitchell leads the Marlies with three goals in the series.

The Rampage had a chance in the final period after going on the power play with about four minutes remaining. But the top-ranked penalty kill unit during the regular season was able to maintain the advantage and escape with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Josh Tordjman made 22 saves for the Rampage in the undeserving loss. Scott Clemmensen stopped 26 shots for Toronto.

Only four penalties were whistled in the game, three of which were against Toronto. The last three games, and four of the five, have been decided by just one goal. The Rampage have outshot Toronto in every game, and tonight was no different. San Antonio held a 27-24 advantage in that department.

The Rampage will try to force a seventh and deciding game when they play Game 6 at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.
