Mario Andretti to Throw First Pitch on September 3
August 27, 2009 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa.) - Racing legend and longtime Nazareth resident Mario Andretti will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Lehigh Valley-Syracuse game at Coca-Cola Park on Thursday, September 3 at 7:05 p.m., the IronPigs announced today. To celebrate the event, the IronPigs will wear one-of-a-kind "Pedal to the Medal" jerseys and the game-worn uniforms will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting Allentown YMCA and YWCA. The jersey auction is made possible by The Finish Line Running Store and Back in Action.
Limited Field Level and General Admission tickets still remain for the September 3 game and can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park, by calling (610) 841-PIGS or online at ironpigsbaseball.com. Prices for single-game tickets start as low as $6 for General Admission, granting fans access to the Capital BlueCross Lawn seating area and standing room only areas. Field Level reserved seats are just $9.
Mario Andretti is unilaterally regarded as a racing icon and considered by many to be the greatest race car driver in the history of the sport. To date, he remains the only driver ever to win the Indianapolis 500 (1969), Daytona 500 (1967) and the Formula One World Championship, and, along with Juan Pablo Montoya, the only driver to have won a race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Formula One, and an Indianapolis 500. Unfathomably, he took the checkered flag 111 times during a decorated career that spanned five decades. In 2000, the Associated Press named Andretti Driver of the Century for his accomplishments.
In addition to the on-field appearance by Andretti, the first 5,000 fans on Thursday, September 3 will receive a 2010 IronPigs Magnet Schedule presented by Simonik Transportation & Warehouse Group.
Fans are reminded that there are three entry points for parking. Those traveling from downtown Allentown are encouraged to use the Dauphin Street entrance. Coca-Cola Park lots can also be accessed off American Parkway and Union Boulevard. Preferred/Handicapped Parking access is available via American Parkway only.
The cost of parking for all IronPigs home games is $3 per vehicle.
Single-game tickets and group tickets for all remaining IronPigs home games are on sale now and can be purchased at the Coca-Cola Park Ticket Office, online at www.ironpigsbaseball.com or by calling (610) 841-PIGS.
2010 All-Star ticket packages, consisting of tickets to "Pigapalooza" All-Star Fan Fest (Saturday, July 10 at Coca-Cola Park), the Triple-A Home Run Derby (Monday, July 12) and the Triple-A All-Star Game (Wednesday, July 14), are now on sale to existing and new full-season ticket holders, 36-game holders and 18-game partial plan holders that renew or purchase season tickets and the All-Star Game package by October 9, 2009.
