Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - August 27, 2009 - The Charlotte Knights picked up their fourth consecutive win, defeating the Gwinnett Braves 6-4 at Knights Stadium. The win is also the Knights fourth straight over Gwinnett.
The Knights rode the hot hitting of outfielder Michael Restovich as the slugger hit his 19th and 20th home runs of the season. Restovich put the Knights on the board in the 4th inning with a solo blast to give them an early 1-0 lead.
After Gwinnett took a 3-2 lead in the 7th inning, the Knights regained the lead in the bottom of the inning. Rehabbing White Sox outfielder Dewayne Wise had an RBI single to tie the game, then came around to score the go-ahead run off an RBI double from Keith Ginter.
Restovich then added some insurance runs by hitting his second homer of the game. His long drive to left center field gives him a team leading 20 home runs and 60 RBI on the season.
Reliever Ehren Wassermann picked up his seventh win of the season and the Knights Kelvin Jimenez earned his first save of the year. Gwinnett starter Jo Jo Reyes took the loss to fall to 3-2.
The Knights and Braves finish off this series tomorrow at 7:15 PM at Knights Stadium. RHP Carlos Torres (10-4, 2.49 ERA) will start for Charlotte. LHP Jonny Venters (3-6, 5.67 ERA) will start for Gwinnett.
