Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Mich. -- Q: What has a hump, Big League cred, and is going to the Midwest League playoffs? A: The Lansing Lugnuts on Wednesday!

A week away from starting their push for the MWL Championship, the Lugnuts welcome Toronto Blue Jays star Marcus Stroman for a rehab start 7:05 p.m. Wednesday - coinciding with the final appearance of Humphrey the Camel in 2015.

A native of Medford, NY, the 24-year-old Stroman was drafted 22nd overall in 2012. He made his Major League debut on May 4th last season posting an 11-6 record to tie for third among all MLB rookies in wins and winning percentage.

The right-hander had been sidelined by an ACL tear in his left knee, suffered during fielding practice at spring training on March 10th. This is his first appearance of the year.

Stroman is the ninth Major Leaguer to rehab with the Lugs, joining Kevin Appier (1998), Jeremi Gonzalez (2000), Ryan Dempster (2004), Andy Pratt (2004), Mark Prior (2004), Anthony Sanders (2005), Jesse Litsch (2011) and Brett Lawrie (2012).

The Midwest League postseason arrives in Lansing on a Labatt Thirsty Thursday, September 10th, with the Lugnuts hosting the Great Lakes Loons at 7:05 p.m. Wear your Spartan apparel to the ballpark, and you'll be entered for a chance to win two tickets to the Michigan State/Oregon game!
