April 21, 2023 - Florida State League (FSL)
Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, Fla. - The Marauders (9-4) welcomed over 2,000 fans to LECOM Park for Paws and Claws night, playing host to the Daytona (5-8) in game four of their six-game stretch. Bradenton would leave no doubt in anyone's mind about who is the best team in the Florida State League as they easily rolled to a 10-0 win.
The Baby Buccos jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Tres Gonzalez drilled an RBI single to left to score Enmanuel Terrero. Gonzalez had a career night where he went 3-3 at the plate with an RBI and two walks.
Thomas Harrington started the game on the hill for Bradenton and was lights out! In five innings of work, Harrington struck out four and allowed zero earned runs to claim his second win of the season on the mound.
The Marauders fielders had a career night of their own, combining to turn six double plays in the ballgame to tie the single-game Florida State League record in that department. The Bradenton defense also went error free for all nine innings.
The third inning was when the floodgates opened for the Marauders; Bradenton put up nine runs in the frame, with the first two coming from a Termarr Johnson 2-RBI single in his return from the IL. Javier Rivas would pick up an RBI on a sacrifice bunt that saw Johnson come home to score on a collision play at the plate. Alexander Mojica chalked up the final pair of runs in the inning when he drilled a groundball through the right side of the infield to score Wyatt Hendrie and Rivas and make the score 6-0 after three innings.
Another run was added in the fourth off of a sac fly by Hendrie, bringing his season total to seven batted in. The eighth run of the game for Bradenton came in the seventh, thanks to an RBI flare from Enmanuel Terrero, who leads the ball club with 11 RBI this campaign.
Julian Bosnic and Mike Walsh combined for four scoreless innings in relief of Harrington, aided by two more runs that came from the bats of Javier Rivas and Mojica once again. Mojica finished the night 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBI and a walk.
The Marauders rolled a double play to put a bow on the game and send the loyal crowd home happy. Bradenton has now won seven games on the trot and lead the FSL with their 9-4 record. The Baby Buccos will look to claim their eighth straight win on Saturday night when they take on Daytona at 6:30 p.m. for Margaritaville Night at LECOM Park.
