
Marauders Win Fifth Straight

Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (14-8, 46-46) ran their winning streak to five straight with a 7-2 win over Lakeland (6-15, 39-50) on Friday night at McKechnie Field. RHP Luis Heredia (W, 3-4) had his best start of the season, lasting a season long 6 1/3 innings and recording a career best eight strikeouts.
In similar fashion to the series opener, the Marauders raced to an early lead with a pair of three-run innings. SS JaCoby Jones continued his huge series at the plate with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. CF Austin Meadows had two hits and an RBI as well as a run scored. Lakeland starter Kevin Ziomek (L, 5-8) had his shortest start of the season, lasting just two innings.
The win keeps Bradenton one game behind Palm Beach in the 2nd Half standings. The Cardinals blanked Clearwater for the second straight night.
NOTES: The game began at 6:32 p.m. under overcast skies, 81 degrees, and wind blowing 12 mph out to center ... Austin Meadows recorded his 30th multi-hit game of the season; The club record for such games is 46 (Elevys Gonzalez, 2011) ... Luis Heredia's previous career high for strikeouts was six ...
