CLEARWATER, Fla. - Victor Arano matched a season-high with seven solid innings on Friday night, but Luke Weaver and the Palm Beach Cardinals limited the Threshers to just three hits in a 2-0 loss on Pitch for Pink Night at Bright House Field.

Arano (3-9) suffered the loss despite holding the Cardinals to just one run on five hits in seven innings. The right-hander did not issue a walk, and picked up five strikeouts.

Palm Beach (15-7) jumped in front in the opening frame.

With one down, Danny Diekroeger and Brett Wiley each lined soft singles to center. After Arano struck out Collin Radack looking, Luke Voit grounded a base hit up the middle to plate Diekroeger with the game's first run.

Arano settled in from there. He retired the next 10 men consecutively, and permitted only two hits the rest of the way.

Weaver (3-4) meanwhile did not permit a baserunner until two outs into the fifth.

After the first 14 Threshers to bat were set down in order, Willians Astudillo lined a single to center to give Clearwater its first baserunner.

Clearwater (15-7) would be limited to just two hits the remainder of the game, and did not push a man past first base.

The Cardinals tacked on an unearned run in the eighth inning against Yacksel Rios. After Casey Turgeon walked to start the inning and Michael Massi singled, CJ McElroy Jr. put down a sacrifice bunt which was thrown wildly to third by Astudillo for an error, allowing Turgeon to score.

The Threshers will look to salvage the series finale and earn a split of the four-game set on Saturday, as Brandon Leibrandt (6-2) takes the hill at 6:30 p.m. The call can be heard live on the Threshers Broadcast Network starting at 6:15 p.m.
