
Marauders Lead from the Start in 4-1 Win over Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (September 5, 2015) - The Bradenton Marauders led wire-to-wire in a 4-1 victory over the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday night at Tradition Field.
Marauders starter Felipe Gonzalez held the Mets to one run on four hits over 6.2 innings. Junior Lopez stranded the tying run at third base in the seventh and tossed a scoreless eighth.
Dovydas Neverauskas pitched around a single in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the season and second of the series.
Junior Sosa, the second batter of the game, drove in Jeff Roy with a single to put the Marauders up 1-0. Roy had reached on a double to start the game.
Mets starter Jake Kuebler settled down and allowed just one more run in six strong innings. It was the second longest outing of Kuebler's career. He gave up just four hits in taking the loss.
The Mets cut the deficit to 2-1 on Amed Rosario's two-out RBI single in the seventh. Phil Evans advanced to third on the play as the tying run. Bradenton lifted Gonzalez and brought in Lopez, who retired Lednier Ricardo on one pitch with a ground out to third.
Mike Hepple retired the first two batters of the eighth but surrendered back-to-back singles and a two-run double to Edwin Espinal that put the Marauders up 4-1.
Vinny Siena, in his home debut, went 2 for 4 and was the only Met with a multi-hit game.
The Mets (68-69, 33-34) and Marauders (73-64, 41-26) wrap up the 2015 season on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All fans will be welcomed into Tradition Field free of charge. The Mets, who have had a .500 record 34 times this season, will try to finish the season .500.
