BRADENTON, Fla. - After maintaining a close battle through the first six innings, the Marauders saw the Clearwater Threshers pull away late Sunday afternoon in a 22-5 blowout loss at LECOM Park.

The combined 22 runs and 17 hits allowed by six Marauders (58-35) pitchers were both season-highs. The Threshers (31-40) scored 17 unanswered runs across the final four innings. Clearwater sent nine or more men to the plate in three different innings.

Marauders starter Logan Hofmann allowed a solo homer to Luis Garcia in the first inning but retired nine of the 10 batters he faced through three innings. Bradenton's bats gave Hofmann support, and Dariel Lopez and Jase Bowen hit back-to-back home runs in the second to put the Marauders in front, 3-1, and Bowen raced out an RBI-infield single in the fourth for a 4-1 lead.

Lopez would finish a triple shy of the cycle in a 3-for-4 day for the Marauders, while Bowen also collected three hits.

But Hofmann labored through the fourth, allowing a walk, a single, and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases with one out. After recovering to induce a shallow flyout, Hofmann walked Baron Radcliff and Kervin Pichardo, forcing home two runs and dwindling Bradenton's led to 4-3. Wandi Montout entered in relief and missed his mark with his second pitch, hitting Freylin Minyety in the shoulder to force home the tying run.

An RBI-single by T.J. Rumfield in the fifth gave the Threshers a 5-4 lead, but the Marauders tied the score in the bottom half on a Daniel Rivero RBI-single, which would turn out to be Bradenton's final run of the day.

A two-run homer by Minyety in the sixth off Sergio Umana (0-4) proved to be the decisive go-ahead tally, and the game spiraled out of hand for the Marauders' bullpen the rest of the way. Radcliff slugged a three-run homer in the seventh off Nick Dombkowski, and a five-run eighth inning against Dombkowski and Parker Brahms saw three hits, a Marauders throwing error, and three walks open the floodgates for a 15-5 Threshers cushion.

Clearwater pounded Bradenton pitching again in the ninth, as Nick Matera and Johan Rojas both hit three-run homers in the frame, and Minyety added an RBI-single for a career-best six-RBI game.

Andrew Baker (1-0) earned the win for the Threshers, providing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Marauders will travel to Fort Myers on Tuesday to open a six-game series against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, Low-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hammond Stadium.
