Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (12-8, 44-46) pounded Lakeland (6-13, 39-49) into submission behind a 17-hit attack, topping the Flying Tigers 11-2. SS JaCoby Jones led the way with a home run and two doubles. His home run capped a three-run first inning as Bradenton led wire-to-wire.
LHP Cody Dickson (W, 8-5) struck out five over five innings to earn the win. Three pitchers combined to strike out a dozen Lakeland batters.
The win leaves the Marauders just one game out of first place in the 2nd Half standings with 50 games to go.
NOTES: The game began at 6:44 p.m. following a 14 minute delay, under overcast skies, 87 degrees, and wind blowing 14 mph from left to right ... JaCoby Jones matched his season high in RBIs (4) and total bases (8) ... Correction: In the 7/13 recap notes it was errantly stated that the Marauders had completed their longest stretch of consecutively scheduled games. This was technically true, however the team has a second 22 game stretch from 8/4-8/25.
