Maple Leafs Fall to Bulldogs

The St. John's Maple Leafs (8-16-2-0) lost a heart breaker last night against the AHL's top team. The Maple Leafs were leading the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 with just over two minutes remaining in the 3rd period when Francios Beauchemin's shot just over the Maple Leafs blue line deflected off a Maple Leafs' stick and fooled Maple Leafs goaltender Mikael Tellqvist. With just 36 seconds remaining in the 3rd period Benoit Gratton, the AHL's top scorer, capped off the Bulldogs' dramatic victory by a score of 5-4.

The Maple Leafs Brad Boyes scored his 8th and 9th goals of the season while Aaron Gavey and Luca Cereda each scored once for the Baby Buds. The Maple Leafs are 4th in the Canadian Division trailing the 3rd place Saint John Flames by one point.
