November 16, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose (7-5-0-1) and Bakersfield Condors (5-6-0-0) met for the third time this season. Today's game was a 10:30 a.m. local time start for the Condors' Field Trip Day with thousands of students in attendance. Eric Comrie was the story early as Bakersfield peppered the Manitoba net with 12 shots in the first frame. Comrie made sure the Moose were able to stay even, turning aside all 12 attempts including a flashy glove save with the Moose on the penalty kill. Each team had a chance with the powerplay, but were unable to convert as the first period closed out in a scoreless draw. The second period saw the Moose offense explode with four goals. JC Lipon broke the ice 1:26 into the frame when Dan DeSalvo opened him up in the slot and Lipon was able lean into a wrister to bulge the twine. The two combined again, just over three minutes later, when Lipon sent DeSalvo in on a breakaway and he fired a quick shot past Laurent Brossoit. Bakersfield got one of the goals back on the powerplay at the 11:06 mark as Joey Laleggia pounded a shot to the back of the net on the powerplay. DeSalvo restored the two goal advantage 36 seconds later off a Scott Kosmachuk feed from behind the net. Manitoba made it a three goal lead at 13:34 as Scott Glennie set up Brendan Lemieux for an open look and he picked a spot just inside the near post. The Moose carried their 4-1 lead to the third period. Manitoba locked things down in the final frame. They still had their chances with Lipon being turned away on a shorthanded two-on-one and Anthony Peluso nearly adding to the lead with a backhand move on a partial break. Comrie had a calm period, only facing six shots from the Condors as the Moose cruised to the 4-1 win. Quick Hits
