Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Manitoba Marathon jointly announce a partnership that will see the Manitoba Marathon route finishing at Investors Group Field on June 18, 2017.

This change will make the Manitoba Marathon the only race in Canada to finish on a CFL field. This is the first major move of the finish line in more than 30 years, and follows last year's reversal of the 26.2 mile course. Full marathoners, half marathoners, 10K, Super Runners, and runners of the final relay leg will all have the chance to cross the finish line on the field inside the stadium.

"We're so excited about the experience that this is going to offer to both our runners and spectators," said Manitoba Marathon Executive Director Rachel Munday, "Completing a race of any distance is a big accomplishment and the feeling runners are going to have as they enter the stadium is going to reflect that."

Spectators will have the opportunity to sit in the stands and watch family and friends enter the stadium on the video boards. Participants will enjoy a dedicated recovery space as well with entertainment and exclusive perks.

"We're proud to welcome the Manitoba Marathon and the runners who will the cross the finish line in Investors Group Field with friends and family watching from the stands. We will all celebrate their success and hard work at the home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers," said Wade Miller, President & CEO of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Investors Group Field has also hosted the 103rd Grey Cup, world class concerts, the Heritage Classic, FIFA Women's World Cup, and over 30 amateur football games played annually.

Registration for the Manitoba Marathon begins December 1, 2016. For more information on the event visit our website at www.manitobamarathon.mb.ca. Registration information can be found at http://manitobamarathon.mb.ca/register/.
