
Manchester Monarchs Open Third Training Camp

MANCHESTER, NH â The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Reading Royals, began their third training camp today at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. A total of 23 players participated in physicals and equipment fitting in preparation for the Monarchs season opener, set for October 10 at the Verizon Wireless Arena against the Worcester IceCats.
Thirteen of the players attending today's camp opener were assigned to Manchester after participating in the Kings 2003 training camp. The assigned players included center Yanick Lehoux, left wing Jeff Giuliano, right wings Dan Welch, Scott Barney, Pavel Rosa, Leon Hayward and George Parros, defensemen Doug Nolan, Francis Nault and Chris Barr, and goaltenders Terry Denike, Matt Underhill and Mathieu Chouinard.
The list of training camp attendees also included forwards Brad Church, Travis Lisabeth, Judd Medak, Kent Davyduke and Jeff Hutchins, defensemen Mat Snesrud, Austin Miller, Jason Maleyko and Jon Insana, and goaltender Adam Hauser.
The Monarchs 2003 training camp runs through Thursday, October 9 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Practices led by Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, and Assistant Coaches Jim Hughes and Dane Jackson, will generally last from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Monarchs open their exhibition schedule with a contest against the Portland Pirates on Wednesday, October 1 at the Biddeford Ice Arena, in Biddeford, Maine, starting at 7:00 p.m.
The exhibition schedule continues when the Bridgeport Sound Tigers host the Monarchs at the Winter Garden Arena in Ridgefield, Connecticut, on Saturday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m.
The Monarchs close their 2003 exhibition schedule when they host the Pirates at the Salem ICEnter in Salem, New Hampshire, on Sunday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for the Monarchs game in Salem may be purchased for $8.00 at the Salem ICEnter or through the Salem Youth Hockey Association.
The Royals face off their third season on Friday, October 17 in Trenton against the Titans. The Royals home opener is slated for Saturday, October 18 versus the expansion Texas Wildcatters.
