Manager Diego Alonso: "It's a Great Opportunity to Continue Fighting for Our DreamsâÃâ¬ÃÂ

Inter Miami CF News Release
Following several weeks of intense training sessions at the Inter Miami CF Training Center, our team has entered the final stretch of its preparations ahead of the continuation of the 2020 MLS regular season. To kickstart the resumption of Inter Miami's inaugural season in the league, our Club is set to face in-state-opponent Orlando City SC at home on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 8 p.m. ET in what will be the first MLS match at Inter Miami CF Stadium.
"We are very happy to be able to resume the league. We feel it's a great opportunity to continue fighting for our dreams. We also have the opportunity to play our first match at home regardless of the fact that the fans won't be present," said Manager Diego Alonso going into the matchup.
"We have to try to stay focused on our goals, our dreams, on pushing on, and because we are stubborn and persistent, it will surely happen. This team has the quality and the capacity. There is creativity and ingenuity within the Club and, above all things, the overall will is there. And when you want something, it is much easier. So, we are very enthused," he added.
Similarly, Inter Miami captain and goalkeeper Luis Robles was also enthusiastic and emphasized the fact that the team has been working at full throttle to be ready for the continuation of the Club's inaugural season.
"As we get ready for this week, I think we've really utilized the last few weeks to work hard and get into a good mindset as a team to continue the rest of the season. To say we've been working hard is an understatement. It's been really positive for us," stated the veteran MLS shot-stopper. "We've been able to use this time to continue to work out the kinks. I know the Orlando tournament was definitely not our best representation of who we are as a team. We're a work in progress and that work has continued over the last few weeks as we look forward to this weekend."
Although Inter Miami's loyal fanbase won't be able to cheer on the team from the stands, the match will be a special one for our team as they will be able to get the first taste of what playing at home in South Florida feels like when they go out in search of a positive result for the fans.
"As we look forward to Saturday, it is our first match at home, but it's not truly going to feel like the debut at home until it's filled with fans. Nonetheless, it's the continuation of the season, and for us, it's going to be great to be back on the field. It's an opportunity to get the three points that I feel will allow us to build some positive momentum going forward," concluded Robles.
