Mammoth falls to Bandits in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Colorado Mammoth's six-game winning streak ended on Saturday at the HSBC Arena with a 19-15 loss to the Buffalo Bandits.

The Mammoth dropped to 10-2 but remained in first place of the National Lacrosse League's West Division. The Bandits improved to 8-4 and kept pace in the East Division with the Rochester Knighthawks, who improved to 10-2 with a victory on Saturday and claimed a share of the NLL's best record.

Buffalo's John Tavares, the NLL's all-time leading scorer, torched the Mammoth with seven goals and six assists. Dan Carey led the Mammoth with four goals while Brian Langtry tallied three goals and four assists. Captain Gavin Prout added a goal and six assists.

The Mammoth took an 8-7 lead into halftime on Jordan Cornfield's goal with three seconds left, but the Bandits took over in the second half. Buffalo scored three straight goals to take a 12-11 at the end of the third quarter before reeling off seven goals in the fourth quarter.
