OAKVILLE, ONTARIO - When the Colorado Mammoth traded for two-time 40-goal-scorer Zack Greer one week ago, the team also received a first-round pick. On Monday night, Colorado converted its bounty into another left-handed forward when it selected Loyola University's Zach Herreweyers [pronounced HAY-wires] ninth overall in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft.

"Zach might be the most talented player in this year's draft," said Dan Carey, Mammoth director of player personnel. "He has the ability to change a game with his skill and athleticism."

The London, Ontario native scored a team-high 84 goals in his junior and senior years combined, and has represented his country in world championship competition. Now he'll call Colorado home.

"It's an incredible feeling," said Herreweyers. "I've been waiting a long time for this, and I'm pretty happy that all the chips fell into place."

After swapping fourth-round picks with Georgia, Colorado selected left-handed defenseman Taylor Stuart. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native played at Bellarmine University, the same school that produced Mammoth goaltender Dillon Ward.

The Mammoth drafted right-handed forward Kyle Whitlow (Marquette University) in the fifth round and defenseman Jahmal Shears (Mimico Jr A) in the sixth.
